A
unique island where cars have not yet arrived, with excellent
diving and good hiking possibilities, this pristine island
offers some of the most exclusive hotels in the island.
Without question, diving is the premier tourist activity
in the Bay Islands. With fairly dense pine vegetation, Columbus
discovered Guanaja in 1502, during his fourth and last voyage
to the Americas. The largest population center in Guanaja
is the town of Bonacca, located on two keys just off the
main island. This is a unique town with a few small canals
crisscrossing the town, thus giving it the nickname of “
The Venice of the Caribbean“.
Access to Guanaja is easy by air, with regular service between
the island and Roatan, as well as from La Ceiba. All of
the resorts are quite isolated from each other; therefore,
these include all meals in their packages
