The most impressive of such constructions in all of Central America lies only 50 miles northwest of San Pedro Sula in the town of Omoa. After the tour of the fortress, lunch will be served at a seaside restaurant, where you will have a chance to enjoy the warm Caribbean waters of Honduras. The tour departs in the early morning, and after less than 1 flight hour you will find yourself exploring the fort. Our return to San Pedro Sula will be in the early evening.

Cusuco National Park
Only a few miles from San Pedro Sula lies the Cusuco National Park, a cloud forest environment that is native only to Central America. This environment is unique because of the moisture dropped into the forest by the clouds that usually cover the mountains. The cloud forest habitat reaches its full splendor at altitudes of 1,800 meters over sea level (6,000 ft)
and over. Huge ferns, mixed with pine, oak, liquidambar and many broad leaf trees flourish in this environment. Jaguar, deer, peccary, monkeys and many tropical birds, including the famous quetzal live here. Our tour departs San Pedro Sula in the morning, and after a 2 flight hours ride through a spectacular mountain dirt road we arrive at the visitors center of the park, at an elevation of over 6000 ft. From here, we will hike some of the trails that lead into the heart of the park, where you will see giant ferns, and with luck, the elusive quetzal.
Your bilingual guide will point out many interesting facts pertaining a cloud forest during the hike. After the walk, a light lunch will be eaten at the visitors center before beginning our journey back to San Pedro Sula.
